Christian Anderson, Ben Gardner and Santiago Lopez present research at the 2017 meeting of the American Association of Geographers in Boston
Three IAS faculty members presented at the 2017 meeting of the American Association of Geographers in Boston, April 5-9. Christian Anderson was a panelist on two panels, 鈥淕azing at Power in Alternative Economies Research鈥 and 鈥淜eywords for Urban Geography鈥 where he discussed how power is theorized in alternative economies research and what becomes of the city when certain key concepts are disrupted. Ben Gardner鈥檚 recent book, Selling the Serengeti: The Cultural Politics of Safari Tourism was the subject of an author meets critics panel on latest works in Critical Studies of Conservation. The other books discussed were Catherine Corson鈥檚 Corridors of Power: The Politics of Environmental Aid to Madagascar, and Jim Igoe鈥檚 The Nature of Spectacle: On Images, Money, and Conserving Capitalism. Santiago Lopez presented his paper 鈥淓nvironmental change in the equatorial Andes: Linking climate, land use, and land cover transformations鈥 as part of a session on 鈥.”
