Zarefah Baroud creates documentary 鈥淪tories from the Homeland鈥�
Telling the story of her own family, Zarefah Baroud created a documentary film about the displacement of Palestinians, an event they refer to as the Nakba – Arabic for 鈥渃atastrophe.鈥� Baroud undertook this endeavor as her undergraduate capstone project while studying Media & Communication Studies (鈥�19) at UW Bothell.
鈥淏eing aware and educated about my family鈥檚 history is the inspiration for a lot that I do,鈥� Baroud said. 鈥淭hrough this film, I鈥檝e become more empathetic to other nationalities that struggle with a similar past.鈥� Now earning her M.A. in Policy Studies, Baroud plans to continue working in media for organizations that advocate for human rights.
