Mask and You Shall Receive: Student Support During the Pandemic
IAS staff members Eva Navarijo, Nhi Tran, Sakara Buyagawan, Jung Lee, and Jessica Trenkamp ran a session at the UW/Community College Advising Conference on 鈥�.鈥�
The session focused on how IAS鈥檚 Student Services & Advising team collaborated to design and teach two courses aimed at helping students gain access to a structured support network as they transitioned to their academic majors while dealing the impacts of COVID-19, the murder of George Floyd, and the Trump Administration鈥檚 capricious policies regarding international students. The interventions were critical to helping students make connections with peers and build a sense of belonging within the institution.
