Clubs

Mission Statement

Clubs established on campus benefit students academically and socially, as well as improve our already vibrant community. The Club Council is composed of passionate and dedicated student leaders who are committed to serving clubs and building community at UW Bothell. These student leaders support club members, empower students, and maximize student voice in decision聬making.

The Club Council handles recognition, training, and funding for clubs, as well provides constant support for club success. Club Council meetings will be held on a regular basis. In most cases, clubs submitting funding requests must present to the Club Council for approval. Violations of disciplinary or financial guidelines may also be heard by the Club Council. Please contact Club Council for any and all questions regarding clubs and student organizations at UW Bothell.

Start a Club

Whether there is a new club starting on campus, or a returning club from last year, Club Council guides the process of club registration. Clubs must be registered on campus in order to reserve a room, request funding for events, check out materials from the club resource room, and other benefits detailed in the Club Handbook.

New clubs requirements

  1. 5 Officers: Each club must have five currently enrolled UW Bothell students as officers to lead the club.
  2. Advisor: Clubs can have a part time or full time UW Bothell faculty or staff member to serve as an advisor. The advisor must submit an Advisor Agreement Form to Club Council.
  3. Constitution: A club must submit an updated constitution (or operating manual) for approval. The constitution must follow the guidelines and be approved by the Club Council. Below are some important considerations as you write your constitution:
    • Purpose/Mission: The stated purpose or mission of a club must be consistent with the mission of
the University and the club must primarily serve the needs and interests of currently enrolled
      students at the 糖心vlog视频.
    • Naming Your Organization: Clubs are not part of the 糖心vlog视频. Clubs may
not use the 糖心vlog视频 at the beginning of their organization name, or 鈥溾f
the 糖心vlog视频鈥 at the end of their organization name. You may use 鈥渁t the
糖心vlog视频鈥 or 鈥淯W Bothell Chapter鈥 at the end of your club鈥檚 name if your
organization is affiliated with a national or regional organization.
      • Correct examples are Health Education Club at the 糖心vlog视频; Biking
        Club, 糖心vlog视频 Chapter.
      • Incorrect examples are 糖心vlog视频 Chess Club; Commuter Students of
        the 糖心vlog视频.
    • Affiliation: Groups affiliated with a parent organization are considered a UW Bothell chapter of the
parent organization and must submit operating documents of the parent organization, such as the
      constitution and bylaws.
      • Consistent with the University of Washington Non-Discrimination Policy, a club which
restricts membership on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, citizenship,
sex, pregnancy, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression,
genetic information, disability, or veteran status, shall not be allowed club status.
    • Private & Commercial Use: In accordance with Use of University Facilities policy, university facilities
may not be used for private or commercial purposes such as sales, advertising, or promotional
activities unless they serve an educational purpose. Therefore, student groups may not register with
Club Council and Student Engagement & Activities if they intend to sell, distribute, market, or
advertise goods or services on behalf of any off-campus commercial entity or affiliate. Clubs that
engage in these activities may have their registration revoked and be subject to Student
Engagement & Activities or UW Bothell Student Conduct disciplinary procedures.
    • Non-Discrimination Policy: Every club鈥檚 constitution must include a non-discrimination policy in
Article I of their constitution that is at least as inclusive as the 糖心vlog视频鈥檚
non-discrimination policy. An example of acceptable language is as follows: “This organization and
its members shall not discriminate against any individual(s) because of race, color, creed, religion,
national origin, citizenship, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, genetic
information, age, marital status, disability or status as a disabled or Vietnam era veteran.鈥
